Breaking the Rules: The Power of CORE dination
Breaking the Rules: The Power of COREdination
In a world of fitness and movement, it’s easy to get stuck in one lane. Pilates purists stick to the classical principles, strength trainers swear by their heavy weights, and yoga instructors are devoted to their breath and alignment. But what if I told you that the magic lies in breaking those boundaries and combining these methodologies? That’s exactly what COREdination is all about.
COREdination is my signature approach, born from over 20 years of experience and a breadth of knowledge that spans more than 40 certifications. I have studied Pilates, yoga, strength training, TRX, and even aerial yoga. Each discipline brings its own value, and I’ve spent my career learning how to blend them into something that truly works. I fully embrace the principles of classical Pilates—after all, it’s foundational to my work—but I also recognize that there’s so much more out there. It’s about integration, not limitation.
The core of COREdination lies in the fusion of Pilates and strength training. Pilates focuses on controlled, precise movements that engage deep stabilizing muscles, while strength training helps build the power and endurance necessary for dynamic, functional movement. By combining the two, I create a system that doesn’t just work on one aspect of fitness—it works on all aspects, creating a body that is both strong and stable, functional and fluid. This is where the “breaking the rules” part comes in. Traditional Pilates methodology keeps things strict and isolated, but I’m not afraid to mix things up when necessary. If something’s not working or muscles aren’t connecting with the brain in the way they should, I pivot. Fast. I follow the science, but I’m not afraid to step outside of the lines to get results.
One of my specialties is overload breathwork, and this is where we get into the deeper work. You’ll find many programs online that focus on the little things—great exercises, but not always the progression to get you to the bigger, stronger goals. To really unlock your strength, we have to lay the groundwork, starting with breathwork and pressure management. That’s where my GROUNDwork signature program comes in. By focusing on these foundational principles, we build a solid base from which we can grow into the powerful, advanced movement you’re looking for.
Another group that benefits greatly from COREdination is women who have undergone procedures like mommy makeovers, tummy tucks, or abdominoplasties. These are often overlooked populations in the fitness world. Just because the appearance of the body has changed doesn’t mean it’s functioning well from the inside out. The muscles may look “tight” or “flat,” but if the core and pelvic floor are not properly coordinated, it can lead to issues down the line. COREdination addresses this by focusing on building functional strength and breath control, all while respecting the physical changes these women have experienced.
I also work closely with doctors of physical therapy, if needed, to ensure a collaborative, holistic approach for clients who are recovering from surgery or working through any specific physical therapy needs. This ensures that we are always staying within the bounds of safe, effective progressions while moving towards stronger, more resilient movement.
At the end of the day, COREdination is about one thing: helping you move better, stronger, and with more confidence. It’s about breaking free from the constraints of any one methodology and integrating what works, based on your unique body and goals. Whether you’re recovering from surgery, building strength for athletic performance, or simply looking to feel more connected to your body, COREdination is here to help you achieve your fullest potential.
